The Lord spoke to my spirit about the smaller things in life, as I was preparing for church recently. We must remember, in our daily journey, to be grateful and give thanks for these things.
The smaller things in life are the birds singing, green grass, flowers, trees, and that parking space close to the front door. Be thankful for protection day in and day out, the food on our table, the clothes on our back, and the shoes on our feet. Let us be grateful that God meets our needs.
Although God’s way is often not the way we expect resolution to come, to embrace a life filled with joy, peace and love, we must learn to make positive choices. For example, in the morning before we arise let us say “yes” to God’s will and “thank you” for another day. As we retire at bedtime, say “thank you” once again to the Lord for all He has done that day. We must choose to seek God’s daily plan for us.
To celebrate life with Jesus, the formula is simple. Look here at what His word says.
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
I see life’s priorities based on God’s Word as:
- God
- Family
- Ministry/Career/Business (Keep in mind that God is the source and career/business remains the resource).
We are to first seek God, say “yes” to His will, obey His commandments, submit to Him, and follow His direction. Learn to say “no” to other things and establish boundaries. Remember, finding the balance is a process – step by step, day by day. Some keys to assist in accomplishing God’s plan for us each day are as follows:
- Seek Him (Matthew 7:7-8)
- Study His Word (2 Timothy 2:15)
- Rest in Him (Matthew 11:28-29)
- Trust in Him (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Remember in everything give thanks. Ephesians 5:20 recommends, “Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
